End of days leaving do before leaving old station 2012

This series of photos with the large number of people who came to show their last respects shows the high regard with which the old station and its way of life was held . People old and young came to this event to share in the last get together at the old station on this full day of events the first was an afternoon tea which you can find on the website and this the ultimate leaving do . Many serving firefighters and many retired came together with their families to mark the end of almost 100 years of active service of the old station begun around 1913/14 held back for the first world war completed around 1922. Many faces of the fire service were to be seen here the borough fire brigade and volunteer, the police fire brigade ,  an ambulance brigade ,the National fire service along with the Auxiliary fire service  regional training centre a return to borough fire brigade and then the county fire brigade , working alongside the community fire service and the princes trust volunteers   hundreds if not thousands of men and women, boys and girls have worked or lived within these walls .

Please enjoy the happiness you see in these photos , obviously not all the people involved are in amongst these faces but they truly represent the life of the station . My apologies for people that came to the do and we haven’t got your photo or your name but remember to tag they must have worked at Blackburn longer than 12 months

If you worked here or visited over the years please leave us a note
