Ascent And Descent Down Everest 2002 and 2003

Blackburn Fire Station did children in need every year for almost ten years sometimes just collecting money on the streets and sometimes organising a large event, these being two . The Ascent was climbing the turntable ladder and descending the steps of the cathedral the number of times that corresponded with the height of Everest and  Descent down Everest was as it suggests coming down Mount Everest but with a difference , the height of the mountain was found out and became the number of times someone had to come down a scaffold post, obviously this was a lot of times each fireman putting in a long shift of climbing a ladder and then coming down the pole. Firemen from other stations came to help . The two events took place on the grounds of the cathedral
