Darwen Remember Horace Seddon, Both NFS And AFS Fireman
From: ArticlesThis collection lent to us by Mr Seddons granddaughter highlights her grandfather Horace Seddon allowing us a glimpse of his life. A memory of Christina’s was that during world war 2 he was sent “Down South ” to guard an ammunition dump hidden in a forest so she has included his National Identity card showing the stamps of the town he was stationed at . She believes there were also American G.I.’s at the forest helping to protect the large stores of ammunition. He was stationed at a local fire station in Darwen just round the corner from his home on Peabody street or possibly Edward street although the fire station now been demolished .
many thanks to Christina for sharing these memories, but do you recall Horace or any others that served in the fire service in Blackburn , Darwen or the surrounding area if so please drop us a message at the bottom of the page we would love to hear from you
