  My first major fire, was on base pump from well in firestation yard, it was a 4pump relay. Met Joe Pickup after not seeing him since school in 1954. Also helped lay out hoses from the station yard which ended up 4lines wide. Still using old canvas hoses at that time as spares, got relieved at 9pm taken back to home station by Roy “Percy” Savage.
