Blaze Man In Lucky Escape, Hollins Street 1980's

This was one of my first Breathing Apparatus jobs , the gent was outside having jumped through the bedroom window  and his wife and children were still upstairs, the living room was quite literally on fire the first team went in and then my partner told me we were going in, and in we went but then I realised I had lost him only discovering after a few minutes the door to the kitchen had closed behind him. I opened it and joined the others upstairs , searching all the beds and cots . You might not realise how frightening it is to find dolls in cots about the size of children in total darkness. Luckily as we found out, his wife and children were not in the house having gone earlier unknown to him
