River Rescue, River Blakewater, Whalley New Rd

Picture One, shows Firefighters Bob France, Steve Green, and Dave Bowers tending to an injured lorry driver who had fallen from a wall into the River Blakewater near Brookhouse Mills Whalley New Rd Blackburn.

Picture Two, the man had lain there injured all morning, his cries for help only heard at lunchtime as nearby factory workers came out to have their lunch.

Picture Three, shows a fantastic piece of improvisation, which included using the Turntable Ladder as a Crane. He was strapped into a Paraguard Stretcher and hauled to safety and in to a waiting Ambulance. The Turntable Ladder crew were Jim Kenyon and Gordon Mitchell.
