Queens Park Fire Brigade Raft Race
From: ArticlesI remember this one , it was decided by the powers that be that blackburn should hold a raft race this year , without a deep enough river it was decided to go to Queens park . Many rafts participated armed a nd ready with flour and water bombs, the idea to be last boat sailing and to topple your enemies . I recall being very bad with my co conspirator Neil Fuller and setting up a strong water jet with a ground monitor at the side of the lake and aiming it towards red watches blackburn entry absolutely drenching them , I did a runner while Neil was falling over laughing and got caught by the boarding party and thrown in the lake. To be honest I cannot remember who won but with all the stalls and everything a great day was had by all. Do you remember this day ? please let us know send us a comment at bottom of the page .
