Yes, the film is based on the diary of a London AFS fireman and is very watchable, although the dialogue inevitably seems a bit stilted after all this time. Apart from Mason and Trinder, the cast also includes Mervyn Johns, Finlay Currie and William Hartnell. It was filmed in wartime with the co-operation of the NFS, although it portrays the period, before the NFS’ formation, when the AFS worked alongside the LFB.
