From: ArticlesThis is the longest period of time in the history of Blackburn fire service , beginning as far as anyone knows in 1794 , with the first writings found discussing a fire service , up until 1929 ,involving 3 new fire stations that we can discover the whereabouts of. The change from horse drawn vehicles up to fully motorised vehicles, massive changes in uniforms , some 7 chief fire officers, William Smith 1837-1866, Joseph joy 1866-1873, Seth Joy1873-1874, John Fox 1874-1894, Samuel Simpson 1894-1921, William A. Jones 1921-1928 and Alfred W.B. Head 1928-1939, oh and a world war to name but a few
