This is another marvellous photograph but what of I am not sure, It is on Blackburn’s station yard probably at an open day or some such event with all the people present. Does anyone out there have any more facts about this photo? please let us know . Many thanks to Norman Halliwell for providing us with an answer.Photograph of Hose Drying Machine pictured at the National Fire Service Open Day at Blackburn Fire Station. I must admit its a weird looking beast if anyone has any knowledge of the vehicle please add your comments below.

It’s a National Fire Service hose de-hydrator. Devised during Word War 2 to quickly dry hose after big fires so it could be ready to re-use promptly. The tractor is a Bedford. The idea was not perpetuated after the war.
Looking at the tiles in the yard the photo is probably taken at London Fire Brigades headquarters at Lambeth.
